I swear to God this truck just loves to bust my balls whenever possible.

So I replaced both u-joints two weeks ago. The rear u-joint fit like a glove and the front...Well...I get the feeling it's the wrong size. There is about a 3/4" inch gap between all 4 ends of the u-joint and the retaining clips and there's still a vibration, most noticeable between 1,500-2,500 rpm. I'm 100% positive I lined that driveshaft up perfectly. Did autozone more than likely give me the wrong part? I know I got the correct boxed part number for it but there's no way that's the right fit??

When you say front U-joint do you mean the front joint on the rear shaft of the front drive shaft. Sounds like they gave you the smaller front U-joint and you installed on the rear shaft??

Rear shaft takes both joints the same size...

I mean the front joint closest to the transmission on the 2wd main driveshaft, not the 4wd..

Autozone gave me a different sized one for the front! When I matched up the u-joints, one was smaller than the other and I installed the smaller one on the front of the u-joint.

The rear shaft should have the same size u joints.

Yep it was a glitch in autozone's system. Installing the correct one was a piece of cake and it's a million times better.

Thanks again to the kind, helpful members of the explorerforum!
