Ok, I got a Kenwood 1000 watt Amp running to 2 12' Alpine Type R Subs. Now whenever I turn the volume up it distorts my speakers a little to much and sometimes I think that probably the speakers can't handle the amp, but another thing is that whenever it's playing too loud, the fuse of the amp that's hooked up on the battery blows off and I always have to keep chaning fuses whenever that happens. Can someone answer some of my questions?? I would really appreciate it a lot..

Thanks :us: :us: :redexp: :redexp: :us: :us:

first check your ground.... second... try a bigger amp fuse..

Well if it keeps blowing fuses go bigger like Mikke said. Has your amp gone into protection at all? Sounds like your voltage is dropping way to low and the amp is not getting enough power which its probably clipping thus blowing your fuse. I just wouldnt turn it up that loud. That is just the peak power of your system. You just have to learn your limits.

1. Your wire is not the right size, up to 350Watt system is at least 8gauge wire, and up to an 800Watt system is a 4gauge wire, ext. Do you have the right size

2. If its your amps fuse then your speaker wires are touching and thats why the amps fuse blows

Just some suggestions

Put a bigger fuse in it?? Oyvey!! The fuse size is rated for the proper curent draw of the amp. The post above is correct, If your lead comming from the battery is too small it will cause alot of problems. Proper grounding is a must, a screw into the sheetmetal isnt enough you need to make sure you have a nice shiney area to ground to. Also you may want to turn the gain down on the amp and see if that helps the problem. My 2 cents.. Hope this helps

I think I will go with a bigger fuse, and you're right about my peak power point loudness, I'm just gonna have to do that then, Thanks a lot ;)

What is the model number on your amp?

I agree that you might have to use a larger power wire, find a better ground, inspect your speaker wires from the amp for shorting, and/or turn the gain down on the amp. Going with a larger fuse than recommended can defeat the purpose of the fuse.

Please let us know how long the amp and speakers last with the bigger fuse!

Usually the fuse lasts about a month, then blows off, but hopefully with the new one it can last more than that. ;)
