My quest tonight was to find out if I can add a factory keyless entry to my F250...well, if I remember right, you can...module, wireless k/p, etc...but then I stumbled upon this:

thought it was a cool idea, looks factory, and most likely at least 1/2 the cost to try to install the factory one....

thoughts?

(my truck did NOT come with factory keyfobs, so I would have to install from scratch)

Generally speaking, on most Fords more than five years old, the remote's function is disabled when the ignition is on. Any wireless keypad that sticks on the outside of the door is rendered useless when the engine is running. For normal entry and exit with the key off, it works fine, but if you happen to lock your keys in it with the engine running, you're screwed.

The OEM keypads are wired in and remain active with the engine running. That allows you to lock the keys in it with the engine running and still get in.

As I mentioned, the details depend on the year....

That's the same one ford sells as OEM for 69 bucks. I'd check and see that one first before dropping 147 on one of those.
