I've been looking at the idea of putting kick panel speakers in my 06 explorer but have realized that 1. Nobody makes a panel for such a late model vehicle and 2. when looking at the driver side panel the parking brake travels right across the entire length of the kick panel very close to the plastic making it seem impossible to create a focused panel that would house a 4-6" speaker and tweeter.
On the other audio message boards I've been on they all seem to advise making my own. This seems like quite a task, but if I thought it would work I'd consider it.
Has anyone looked into creating a speaker lower in the door where the little garbage/map holder thing is? This could be very similar to a kick panel, but nothing will get in it's way.
I'm just wondering if I'm the only one having this design problem. Q-Logic has nothing newer than 96 models listed and hasn't replied to my e-mail.
I'm really stumped on this one, but want to create a really great front soundstage and I'm advised that additional speakers are needed.
Regards,
Roveer
