KKM filter part #

Doe's anyone with a KKM kit know the part # of the S&B filter? I am thinking of buying the kit and replacing it with a K&N filter instead...I live in California and need it to be CARB certified.

putting on a kkm and then a k& n filter will not make it carb certified. thr reason is because with installing the kkm you must plug up 2 vacumn lines and not have the proper operating specs....it will pas smog....but not visually.....you are in trouble with the kkm. just put on the kkm and switch it back to stock to get a smog check. then switch it back and reprogram the computer.

I'm not sure how the 94's airbox spec's are, but on the 99 model, the vacuum lines are connect on the tube between the MAF and the Throttle Body. So there souldn't be any CARB cert problems.

I found out that the K&N FIPK kit for 97 and lower will fit, only the support brackets doesn't fit. I emailed California Air Regulation Board to find out about modifications and current laws. Hopefully the cert will stand. I will report soon after I get a resonse.

CA Air Regulation Board responded back saying that the cert will not stand for the 99 model year. However, I did finally got a response from K&N after 3 weeks and 3-4 messages. They did say that a FIPK kit is in the works and it may be out this Fall. My guess is that it will be the same kit, filter #57-2513-1, as for previous years. This kit does fit 99 models, only the support brackets does not fit. All you have to do is make your own.

K&N finally replied back to my numerous emails. They said that they are working on a Gen II for my model year, a 99 Explorer XLT. It should be out in the fall.

Yah, I have a 97 X 5.0 and ordered the K&N FIPK for it, only to find out that the mounting brackets don't fit. before I return it, have you modified your mount for it or know anyone who has?
