Knocking sound under center console

Hey all, sometimes when I start my Ex there is a knocking or clicking like sound coming from under the center console. I have pulled the cartridge outta the cd changed, shut everything off except the engine and it still makes this sound. THe only time it stops is when the key is in the off position. IT doesnt do this everytime I start it. Has this ever happened to anyone???? Its starting to drive me nuts

check all the exhaust hangers,, could be a worn out hanger,,

Check your transmission mount.

THe thing is it does this siting in stationary in park as well as driving. It is like a timed knock, you can guess the moment each time it will knock cause the intervals are that consistent. I just can figure out what it causing it.

it soulds like someting is hitting something due to the torque from the motor twisting everything when its first started. i would go under the car and shake your exhaust, transmission, driveshaft and everything untill you here anything.

Hm... try taking out your front DS and see if the noise goes away.. they'll make some weird noises when they're about to go out, or they're broke.

THis noise also happens when the engine is not running but the key is forward in the on position. As soon as I turn the key switch all the way to off the knocking goes away

Well if its doing it with the key in the acc position then its gotta be electrical(non drive line related) so could it be something else in the disc changer? Or is there something else electrical in there?

I would try pulling the fuse for the cd changer and see if it still happens.

hmmm, i will have to look in the book, at the firehall, but sometimes they put the airbag modules under the console,, if that is what is under there , than it might be a relay ,
is the airbag light on ?
