Hi folks,

My explorer has developed a head gasket leak and is depositing drops of coolant on the ground, although not at a high rate. The price on having the gaskets replaced is pretty steep...over $1000. So I'm wondering if anyone has experience using any brand of radiator stop-leak that they had success with. And would a product like that cause any other problems, like clog up the tubing in the radiator?

Thanks,

Richard

Try it if it works sell right away as it won't last. If you like the vehicle do the gaskets. Is your engine oil creamy?

It might not be the head gasket. It may be the lower intake manifold, those gaskets also start leaking over time, making people believe their head gaskets are hooped. Have a compression test done, and have a cooling system pressure test done. That will tell you for sure.

Good advice there.
