Hello,

I have the Ford JBL factory option. I think my front amp may be busted. For the first 15 minutes of play, everything sounds great. But if I play music/radio/cd/whatever for about 15-20 minutes, the entire left side will go out. I thought it was my Alpine changer at first, but then it does it on CD or radio or tape. The left side speakers, front and rear, cut out almost completely once it heats up. If you turn it up and move the balance all the way to the left you can just barely make out the music or voice. The other side works fine all the time.

Is this the left channel on the front amp going bad, or is it a loose connection on the left side?

it could be a loose connection, but those are common symptoms of the factory amp. it happens all the time. sometimes one speaker, sometimes two. usually just on one side.

So you think the factory amp is wearing out?

I had the same thing happen to me with my system. Whenever I hit a bump, the left speakers cut out. What you need to do is take your head unit out and turn your system on and start wiggling wires until you can find your problem wire. Then take some electrical tape and fix it where when it moves the sound doesn't cut out. My problem was the harness, it was lose so I just taped it up and haven't had any problem for months.
