I was wondering which limited Slip diff. the X uses? How well do they hold up and should I be looking to replace it?

the ford lim slip is a decent unit.... they use the ford limited slip... not another brand such as eaton that gm uses........ if it still works keep it.... if it doesnt and you dont plan to do hardcore offroading it can be rebuilt for $85 in parts......... if doing hardcore offroading get a locker.... if mostly street the stock ford ls will do fine.....

Thanks for the info, we get a lot of snow up here sometimes. The hardest offroading we normally do are trails the BLM and forest service rate as moderate.

It still works but I was just curious if the LSD in the X was considered as decent or something they through in so Ford could say it that the truck had a limited slip diff.

Thanks again for your help

after 106k and me beating the crap out of my truck for the last 50k mine still works and it is like 8 years old......

I installed a 6000km limited slip unit from a 2001 X into my truck and replaced my open diff. I do some pretty serious wheeling and found that is still acted more like an open diff then a limited slip unit. It works fine when both wheels are on the ground, thats about it. Keep it if the only offroading you do is gravel roads, but look into replacing it you do rough offroading.
