Hi all,
I'm fairly mechanical and have an '02 Mounty V8 AWD ready for a transmission swap. I've never done a transmission before. I was hoping someone had taken pics of a step by step guide to doing one of these. I have my donor vehicle located and am ready to get started, but could use a little guidance.
I checked the stickies and all of the posts seem to be about either swapping a different transmission than the factory one, or rebuilding a current transmission. I'm not brave enough for that yet, I just want to take the good one out of the donor car (blown motor) and put it in mine.
(The problem with my transmission is a broken casting, detailed in this thread.)
Is there such a thread floating around that I'm not seeing?
Parenthetically, I've read some questions about using 5R55W's vs 5R55S's, but both my good and donor vehicles are 2002 Mounty 4.6L V8 AWD's - so the transmissions HAVE to be compatible, right?
