My dad hit a minivan yesterday at about 2 MPH (No damage to the van although the morons are trying to eat insurance money out of us...yeah, like blue chips on their bumper is from our RED Explorer with a black bumper. The "victim" even fled the scene of the accident, unknowing she even got hit.). Anyway, the only damage that was done was our front liscene plate which fell off. We didn't even realize it until we drove back to the scene and saw our liscene plate lying on the road. D'oh!

Well, the brackets are toast. I need to know where I can find a new front bracket, and how much it costs. I posted it here because it's illegal to drive without a front plate in Texas.

I'm sure that works, but I just don't like anything that looks non-stock (Unless it looks better). I like a clean Explorer that doesn't look like Tim Allen owned it. I'm going to buy a "special" car just for me to see how much I can jimmy rig it before it falls apart. ;)

is it required to even have it where you live it is not where i live and i think that it looks much better without it

Yes it is required :( I think it looks much cleaner without the ugly plate jutting out, but it's eitehr that or display in on the dash, and that is too redneck for me.

On a side-note, I bought a new bracket. It was $12.17 tax included at the dealer, and they installed it for free. I would do it myself, but I have no garage and it is 40 degrees and been raining all day. So that problem is fixed.

Now onto the door not locking, the rear wiper that's out, and the tune-up I do not want to try...;)

Free instalation.
That sounds like a dealership you want to support as much as possible.

Please post the name so other people in your area can support them too.

Free installation includes removing two screws, then installing two screws.

If you can't handle this process outdoors............why are you planning on doing your own tune-up?

mine just snapped on and off

we are talking about a dealership though.
They really don't do much for free even if it is just a few seconds worth of work.

ya but can you put a price on 10seconds of labor

Thats not really the point, most dealerships wont do that for you.

$75 an hour/3600 seconds, 2 cents a second. That's 20 cents!

Okay guys. All you who think you are so smart and think it is no big deal about a dealer doing something for free. Go too your dealer and try too get something simple done for free. I deal with John Elway Ford West in Wheat Ridge, CO. They have done several small installs for me at no charge and it took a little longer than you would believe.

There is a 'special' tool to pop in the plastic rivots to attach the plate holder to the bumper.
I doubt everyone has it.

I can handle the 2 screws.

Illinois also requires a front plate. But I do agree it does look much better without it. Mine actually fell off (with a little help) and it wasn't that hard getting the plastic rivits off the drill bit when I was finished either.;)

i actually think that it is required where i live however everyone is so relaxed about it no one really cares if we have it or not
