HIGH for a 2005... Although 123000 miles is not that high.
i Just bought a 2010 xlt four wheel drive with 160000 super clean for only $5000.00
Was looking at another 2010 but had fewer options and less miles and last I seen was dropped to $3999.00
I'd keep looking plus if its a dealer then expect to pay top dollar...

Does it have a Carfax? I’d want to know that it had very regular low mile oil changes. This seems to prolong the timing chain guides and tensioners, which would be the most concerning component of this model, followed by the transmission.

Dont solely believe car fax. It doesn't tell you crap. We service our cars ourselves. The only that will show up is registration and inspection on our cars...

Call Ford and find out if a dealer serviced it. Subaru USA has a nation wide maintenance software. They printed off and mailed a whole novel of service records for my brothers 2006 Outback. Very well taken care of car. Of course carfax didn't exactly show that.

Also, I picked up my 2002 Eddie Bauer V8 4x4 with 60k for $4,600 in 2014. From FL.
Sold as mint yet still needed $1500 of just parts, fluids, and tires.

It doesn’t always tell you everything, but if it shows regular oil changes they happened. I’m not sure I’d risk HOPING the previous owner did regular service to the cars.

I service all my cars myself, but there’s no real chance of any of my cars ending up at a dealer for sale.

it's TWO WHEEL DRIVE-- nooooooo

I think if you like the look and feel of the 3rd gen Explorer then is makes no differnece what year (2002-2005) For $6,000 you have lots of choices.

We paid five for mine at 105,000 miles wit hte 4.6, 4x4 and EVERY option.

If I only used it on road I’d surely not want the added expense, complexity, maintenance, repair, and lack of efficiency of 4x4.

Ok the ad says 4x4 but later it says 4X2. THe printoout of the cars features and options do not say 4x4

It’s actually a 4wd.

Where is this vehicle?
6k plus TTL, it’ll be pushing 7k.
I’ll sell you mine for 3500

Uh, no. It says it’s an XLS model, def. not worth that cash.

2006-2007’s are available for good pricing nowadays.

Either way, I look for two things, mileage less than 150k and a 4.6l V8. If either of those don’t match, I move on. 4x4 is nice, if you’ll use it.

Oh, also look for a two inch receiver if you plan to tow a trailer.

Again, if it’s not a V8, don’t do it!

See if you can talk them down. Bought my '05 Eddie Bauer 4x4 w/168,000 miles & the 4.0 V6 for $3999.00 plus T&L (originally wanted $5999). If they really want to sell it, they'll be flexible on the price.
