I've been trying to find a rack of some sort that will fit my 4dr 94 xlt. It'd be great if it could fit on the stock rails.
I'd prefer one that doesn't clip on at the doors.
The boat isn't huge, it's 10' long alumninum and 4.5' wide. Not very heavy, maybe 50 or 60 lbs. It's a flat bottom.
Absolutely sweet for casting a fly line.
I figured some of you might have one installed on your X's.

Thanks.

Yakima makes some of the best racks, and they have (or at least had) towers that slid onto the stock roof rails, add on whatever length of their crossbars you want, and then get the L-shaped rubber feet to throw a boat or canoe on it, upside down. They're kind of expensive to buy new, but you can usually score a used setup off ebay extremely cheap, especially the earlier models that came out right after the first gen Explorer. Someone on the forum might also be selling theirs, so be sure to check the Parts For Sale forum. Thule also makes some good racks too, though I'm not sure if they made towers that work with the factory rails.
