looking to increase HP in 96 xlt

hi im just seein what kind of luck people have had with increasing horsepower in a 1996 v8 awd. and whats not recommended. i was thinking starting with a k&n cold air then maybe a performance tuner. any ideas?

little side note the guy i bought it from said it has a high output motor, is there a way to find that out?

yeah another popular intake on this site is the mac intake which can be found at explorerexpress.com also seach for "torque monster headers" up above in the search and you will find a whole bunch of info.
