Hi guys, new to the forum so sorry if this has been covered already. Been doing some searching and can't quite figure out my problem.

Around the end of last winter my explorer threw its serpentine belt, now that it's warm enough to work on it I decided to throw a new one on. Measured up the same as the old one but still had way too much play. So I put a new tensioner on and it didn't tighten it up in the slightest.

Crawled the the forum some more checking the numbers and I have the correct length, so what am I missing?

I'm 100% certain I have it routed correctly (diagram right under the hood), if anyone can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it.

If I recall there were two belts listed for that year. You want the shorter one. Somewhere in one of my posts I gave someone the right number. I'll see if I can find it.

I found the old belt package. You should be using 13/16th by 94 1/2 OC.

well that's a problem then lol. I used the 940K6 belt, it's 94.65 oc. with no luck.

Haha just figured it out. The lower left idler pulley is GONE. Just the post left that bearings go around. Man I feel dumb.

At least you found the problem and it's an easy fix.

Yep, now the power steering is stuttering when I try to turn the wheel. Pump going out? I'm mostly just trying to get this thing in driving condition so I can sell it. Still have a coolant and fuel leak to track down.
