My explorer, 94' xlt, experiences engine loss and rough idling after being driven for two to three hours, none of this occurs unless engine has been on for a long period of time. It recently passed emission inspections. The symptons lead me to believe that some sort of sensor malfunctions after the engine has been running for long time. There is approximately 170k miles on the engine. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be wrong? Thanks.

Mine does the same thing. I know mine is due to increasing engine temps, even if the temp gauge shows normal. It only happens to me in the summer, and after the truck has been running for over 1.5 hours.
