I have another explorer 98 4.0l sohc eddiebauer and i had a lot of problems so i determined to check for dtcs, and that what i got...
P1862 xfer case contact plt pwr ckt fail
P1808 4*4 low indicator ckt fail
P1804 4*4 high indicator ckt fail
B1347 heated backlite relay ckt fail
B1814 rear wiper mtr dn relay ckt fail
B1818 rear wiper mtr up relay ckt fail
B1431 wiper brk/run relay ckt fail
B1398 drvr 1 touch win rly ckt fail
P1820 xfer case cw shft rly cl ckt fail
P1828 xfer case cw shft rly cl ckt fail
P1874 trans auto hall efct sns pwr ckt fail

Damn thats a lot of codes, take battery off line and see what is left after half an hour- i would bet many of the codes have gone.............
i wonder if a replacment ecu would cause this?

yes i have done that ...there was more codes that those ...but no way
i noticed that most of the errors have a relay problem so that i thought that it might be the fuse box
