Loud Engine?

Does the engine strike anyone as being particularly loud? I have had my Limited for a week now and while I love that it is a nice smooth ride, I thought the engine sounds very loud, especially when going up hills. I have been ignoring it by attributing this to the fact it is a truck as opposed to the minivan I had been previously driving, but today my 7 year old son said "This car is really loud, Mommy." Thoughts?

I actually feel that my new X limited is too quiet. I can't wait until someone releases an aftermarket exhaust system for this thing to give a little bit more growl.

It's not loud enough. The engine is way too quiet. Or do you mean you have a weird engine noise?

I seldom use full throttle, but when I do I have to say I don't care for the sound it makes. The sound isn't too loud, just not a very satisfying quality to it. Hopefully some aftermarket exhaust systems will show up, at a reasonable cost.

I agree completely. The V8 in my 2009 sounds so much better under full throttle. I quite enjoy the silence of the 2011's engine under normal driving conditions though.

+1 The only time I hear the engine is when I want to get the Ex up to speed a little quicker than usual using increased throttle. Other than that I can't say I've noticed what you refer to as a 'loud' engine noise.

It just sounds like it is working too hard, especially in the lower gears and when going up hill. It is fine when cruising along.
