LOUD explorer when cold

So I've noticed my explorer has been louder than normal. Whenever I start the car and it's cold there's normally a really loud fan until it warms up a bit but my ex has been sounding like that recently even when it's not cold out. What could be causing this?

It may be time for a new fan clutch

That would make since. I was just reading about their impact on mpg also and I've been averaging 14 mpg for the past few tanks. I'm pretty sure I read a thread on here a while ago about getting better mileage with an electric fan, maybe that's something I should look into. Thanks for the help.
