Love throwing money at parts...and still not "right"

Its been a couple of weeks. It gets drove on a regular basis but once it didn't start running the abs motor until about a week later after I picked it up. I was driving my ol 79 f250 around for that time because of the screwy heater in the explorer. I'm almost certain there is air in the abs system because when I took it to the shop only the rear brakes worked and the abs didn't do anything until I really really slowed down to where the rear wheels would want to lock. So I'm sure they didn't have that abs bleeder tool. As it is an independent shop. When I do come to a stop with the x it pulls to the right a little bit and then right before I stop it makes a clunk and stops so I think it the air being pushed thru the system. So what I'm going to do probably on Monday is drive to a back road and get it up to about 35 and cram the brakes and just keep my foot on them and have either my gf or my bro crack the bleeders to get the air out once thats done of the problem goes away then all will be well. If it continues then it going to have to sit til I get the money to put it BA I to the shop. The owner told me they bled the brakes out and that it was fine so I'm guessing the mechanic he had work on/road test the SUV didn't have the problem or at least didn't report it to the owner if he did. So I will try on Monday to get the system bled again and go from there and see what happens.

From what you describe, that would indicate a slide pin was put in upside down and had worked itself loose.

I had a similar issue with air in the RABS. I drove a 25 mile rugged road and rattled my teeth to death. When I got back to the blacktop my brakes were way better and I hadn't touched them. Then I followed JD's advice and as gf pumped the pedal, I tapped the RABS unit with a rubber mallet. After a minute or so of that I immediately set to rebleeding the whole system shy of bench bleeding the MC.

Now my brakes are proper.
