Hello wanted to bounce something off you guys. My 05 4.6l explorer has a engine power loss and sometimes will stall the engine it will restart easily . The truck has 238,000km the problem can be duplicated when hot or cold between 40-50km/h engine between 1500-2000rpm. I can be on or off the gas. Its just low speeds, not a problem on the highway or at stops. I have a scan tool that will data record and graph, i see no erratic sensors or anything funny on my recordings. My fuel adaptives are normal. I have new oem plugs about 5000km ago. Air filter, and throttle body cleaned. No codes. The engine runs great just been having this problem in the past week. Just wondering if anyone has any further thoughts on my issue.

I have checked the throttle position vs the acellerator position sensors the obd monitor only shows in voltages one throttle position and two acellerator position voltages i didnt see any spikes or irregular readings they move smoothly together when graphed on the scan tool

I had this problem with my 03 and it ended up being a bad coil with no check engine light. I took my 02 mustang out last night for the first time and am having the same problem and it's only at low Rpm's and then it clears up.

How did you come to the conclusion of a failed coil?

Hey guys have an update my explorer is chugging and stalling more often. I got s message on the message center saying engine fail safe mode. Wrench light stays on. There is only one pending code p2106 electronic throttle actuator forced limit rpm. No other codes set. From my experience this is a limp strategy code and not a fault code. Going to do some more data recordings and try to get to the bottom of this.

Hey guys another update i drove this the explorer to work, the truck must have stalled 12 times in a 4km drive. It was bucking, chugging and stalling. But the check engine light came on finally. Along with a pending code for the p2106 and i got a hard code for p0606 ecu internal code. Following diagnostics on prodemmand i checked for communication codes in other modules with a launch scan tool. None were found. It comes down to pcm replacement. Im sending in my pcm to a local pcm rebuilder next week ill report further after that.

Hey guys sent my pcm to the rebuilder they found a fault in the keep alive memmory module micro chip. They cannot get that chip so they waved the 120$ diagnostic fee becuase they couldnt fix it. So just for kicks i was checking the engine harness under my hood. Something caught my eye. Right infront of the passenger side rocker cover there was a wire pinched between the head and a coolant tube. I opened up the harness and found three wires an uninsulated wire and a twisted pair white and blue wires. The white a bkue wires have chafed through grounding on the cylinder head. Uppon further research thats my crank sensor wires. Dammit thats the source of all my problems. I repaired the wires and the truck no longer stalls. Im blown away that it didnt log a code. A dodge would have for sure.
