Magnaflow install without total catback system 06 Explorer V8

I have been wanting to do a cat back magnaflow on my 06 Explorer with a V8 but have been putting it off for financial reasons. I took mine into a local exhaust shop for a heat sheild rattle which turn out to be a small rock. The manager flipped me the keys and said no charge. I asked him about putting on a magnaflow muffler and he quoted me $172 installed. That included removing the resonator between the cat and the muffler. 30 minutes later I was rolling out the door with that hod rod sound that was as soothing as a purring kitten. I could not be any more pleased!

Does anybody know if the V6 has a resonator? I was under there the other day, saw the muffler about in the middle of the pipe, didn't see anything else between that and the cat though. Then there was a "bulge" right before the exhaust tip.

First the budge just before the exhaust tip is a resonator; second my V6 has the same thing. So to answer your question yes the V6 has a sound resonator.

Ok, on my lincoln the resonators were before the mufflers.

True but on the 4th gen Mounty and Explorers the resonator is just before the tailpipe.
