I was just doing some reading the my Haynes manual and was wondering if anyone has retained the function of the preheater when switching to the KKM. It seems like all you would need to do is put the bimetal sensor in the intake tube after the MAF. That way you would still have the advantages of quicker warmup and consistant intake temp. Anyone think its worth trying?

I retained the sensor on mine.. I actually put in the the KKM itself, on the rubber part. buy you dont get the heat advantage, because it it located on the snorkle, which you bypass by installing the KKM. Thats why they are illegal on 91-94's. I even think the KKM site says it doesnt bypass any emmisions equipment (or at least it did when I bought it.) doh. :)

What do you mean located on the snorkle? I kept the lower part of the stock filter in there, and that intake tube that comes up from the headers and front of the vehicle, isn't that what I need.

Well.. I call it a snorkle.. but I guess thats the wrong term... intake pipe? Heh.. whatever... but I would assume the heat you get from the headers would just disperse as soon as it hit open air. And at a stand still... the KKM would be pulling in hot air anyways. But I do see your point.. I guess if you kept the lower half of the airbox in... it probably would get a bit warmer at a standstill....
