It has the mazda tranny in it with 190000 miles on everything. now... to get first gear i have to shifter pushed clean up to the dash with about a quarter inch between the two. Second gear is almost to the center console...i cant always find first where it should be...some times i go to second and then push it up towars first gear just a bit and i find first gear. Second gear now i cant find....but 3rd 4th and 5th are normal....whats up? Oh and some times first gear is in the normal spot...thanks for any input you guys have.

come on guys no one has any input after 51 views...? wow:eek:

I take a stab. Maybe a bent shift fork or something loose in the shift mechanism. I'm not really a transmission Guy. Therangerstarion.com might get you better results.

Have you checked the bolt that clamps the shift lever to the base? Mine was missing and it gave the shifter an enormous amount of slop. Also, have you checked your shifter bushings?

It may be an internal problem, but the above are cheap and easy checks and cheap fixes as well. eBay has TransSolutions brand shifter bushing kits for about $15.

Alright thanks guys ill look into that prob next week. THanks again!
