Has anyone used MB Quart speakers in their Explorer. What size did you use? I really would like to keep it looking completely stock, so they would have to fit in the door behind stock grilles. If anyone has them please let me noe size/model number/etc... I had Quarts inmy old truck and loved them. Also, does nayone have any of the new Soundstream amps? I had two of those in my my old system. They were really, really good back then. Just wondering if they still rock, or have become crap. Thanks for the help.

the mbQ componentrs rock.. I beleive the explorer has 5x7s int he doors.. so either a 5.25" component set or similar would do niceley

Soundstream is still considered way up there on the high quality car audio scale. Their amps are definately still awesome.

In my sport im using 5.25" seperates all around. MB Quart in the rear and KICKER Resolution in the front with the ND25a tweeters. everything is mounted in the stock location and is totally stealth. MQ Quart speakers require a high quality amplifer for them to sound thier best. cheap amps make them sound "tinny" with poor highs. soundstream is still a quality product.

I have the MB Quart Qs separates mounted in/on the front door. I have the 6.5" mid mounted in the factory speaker location and the tweeter mounted up on the door panel (hollow area by window). A template was made out of MDF to mount the mid in the factory hole.

There are premade templates you can purchase for the 5.25 components, so you may want to go the route; cheaper and less work.

Let me know how your install goes. Since you have had Quarts before, you know bright the tweeters can be. It took some work--dynamat, etc.-- to get the mids to perform. I had the same problem with my quarts in my Vette. It took a lot of tweaking to get the mids sounding good, but once they are dialed in, they sound great.

If I had it to do over, I would put an 8 inch woofer in the front door and 5.25 separates in pods.

I should have pictures next week. Remind me to post them if you would like to see them.

Thanks for replies.

I'm currently shopping for my speakers. I think I'm going with the 6.5" components, with co-axes in the rear. As for the amp I'm not sure yet. I'll get photos as soon as I decide and get it in.
