Mechanic said under carriage rust - my brake lines may corrode???

Not sure what he means and what the connection is? He was suggesting some rust proofing on the under carraige (but not by him). Not sure I see the connection to general rust, rust proofing and brake lines corroding other than if the frame is corroding then so may ht brake lines but how would rust proofing help?

My new ride is a 1997 5.0L AWD with 100k just purchased from municipality.
 






I know that on my 99, the brake line that rides over the rear diff was very corroded. I was proactive and changed it before it popped and sprung a leak.
 






and that makes sense but he didn't suggest I deal with the brake lines??
 






It is a well know and common problem that the rear brake lines tend to corrode and fail on Gen II Explorers that spend their lives in the rust-belt. No amount of rust on brake lines is acceptable. If there's any doubt, replace them.
