I noticed on my Mountaineer that there is a sticker on the hatch that says Monterery. The sticker isn't even straight. So I figured some just slapped it on the truck but it's also embrodered on the floor mats. I've also seen it on one other Mountaineer.

So what I'm asking is, what the heck is a Monterery?

it may be in reference to monterey bay, california

For model year 2000, Ford came out with the addition of the Premier and Monterey packages. There was nothing really new included with the packages, but they did group a large selection of luxury features together. To differentiate Mountaineers with the Premier package, Mercury offered this vehicle only in a Spruce Green exterior color with Medium Prairie Tan interior. The grille, body-side moldings, liftgate molding and license plate shield, rear-quarter extension, running boards and front and rear bumpers are color-keyed to the Spruce Green exterior. Mountaineer Monterey version, has two-tone paint, chrome wheels and luxury interior touches.

The Premier and Monterey trim packages included tan leather upholstery, the special paint combination, upgraded alloy wheels and wood grain dash trim. The interior (already good in its own right) changed with the addition of special floor mats, leather-trimmed power-adjustable sport bucket seats and a wood-grain instrument panel.

coolness, you learn something new everyday......

when i got my mounty, i was told the monerey was equal to the explorer limited, though it missed a few nice touches compared to the limited such as leather accents in the door pannels, and the center counel was vinil, instead of leather

Thanks for the excellent info! Much appreciated. I still find it odd that the sticker is crooked on the back of mine and the one other one that I've seen.

All I can say is that if Bubba's boozing big brother Beauford put it on, it may have looked straight to him...:D :chug:
