- 1997 mercury mountaineer
My 97' mountaineer makes this quick 'spinning sheet metal to metal' sound frequently when it shifts under load (uphill, plenty of gas,etc.). Co-incidentally started when I had to have it towed once. Transmission guy drove it and didn't think it was in the tranny. It's a very quick sound and then fine. He thought it was more up front as in pulleys. I replaced them all except the alternator one last year trying to get rid of a cold weather squeek.
Doesn't do it when on flat ground and not giving it a bunch of gas.
Anyone else had this before?
