Might be picking up another 92 Eddie

Long story short, its basically my 92's twin, but theres hardly any rust on it, and everything looks in GREAT shape for what you can see with the pics, ill be going to look at it maybe this weekend, and ill have all the rest of the info on it.

Its a 92 Eddie Bauer, that needs a transmission, and my 92 is just going downhill, it needs brake lines, basically everyone i havent replaced needs to be/will be replaced, mines rusted to hell, i need basically a whole new front end, (shocks, bearings, pads, and rotors) and a new set of shocks for the back couldnt hurt either while im at it.

But he wants 500$ for the explorer, and i figured i can get it, swap my trans out on my 92 into this one, swap my headlights and grill, and my headunit, which ill swap the whole panel where the headunit goes, because i had to shave mine.

The only prob I have is that I gotta talk to the autoshop teacher at school, and see if he wouldnt wanna do it, im good friends with everyone in the class, so i trust them, but yea, is there anything else I need to know about swapping transmissions? Ill get a new filter, and pan seal, and fluid obviously, but is there anything else I might wanna invest in?

(The guys talking to me about trades, so hopefully I wont be giving more than 200$)


I have no clue what happened to the front bumper, so ill swap that too, im waiting for him to reply to tell me what happened and if the frame or anything is bent

I think I wanna swap center consoles too, mines the one that has 2 cupholders

I can get this one, get the trans' swapped, and my lights, dash piece, console, bumper, and if theres any other cosmetic stuff thats better on mine, then I could sell mine for probably 5-600$ so ill walk away from this all even, give or take about 100 bucks

from the looks of the front bumper i doubt any frame damage pretty light hit there,

as far as the console is concern no need to change the whole thing just swap the cup holders 4 screws and your golden.

invest in a GOOD trans cooler not those cheap aluminum ones you see at the auto parts store but a nice stacked plate job.

But about the cooler....does that really help the trans out?

heat is what kills transmissions the quickest. So the cooler it runs the happier it will be in the long run.

gotta remember with these vehicles have the exhaust running right next to the trans. And it tight quarters under there. so that Trans gets a bit warm under there and needs all the help it can get.

How hard are they to install...and how much do the good ones run?

Nahhhh it pretty simple since there is already a factory secondary cooler mounted in front of the radiator. just get the new one and swapped em out. Might have to toy with the mounting tho to get mounted correctly. But the lines are already there so no need having to mess with running new lines.

Thats awesome...I was looking at that exact one on the AutoZone website, little stuff like that really helps, and its something that on my own, I would NEVER in a million years think to get.

Thats deff. gonna be on my list...not so soon maybe since its basically winter out right now, but around february...or unless I get some extra cash then ill be doin it

Haha, I was texting him and I asked how many miles were on it he was like 400000 I was like :0 holy crap...then he was like oh I accidentally added a zero

Cus the 91s and 92s only had 5 digit ODO's.

Its probably got 140 or 240k on it which is still even less than mine, he said the 4x4 works great, and everythings great inside, besides the drivers seat is ripped on the bottom, but mines even worse than that, so yea haha.

Talked to him last night some more about trading for my home theater reciever, and that JVC Kameleon headunit and he was VERY interested in doing that, so if thats the case, I may just be picking it up later tomorrow (I work 1-5 tomorrow) I have AAA gold, so I can get free towing up to 60 miles, and hes like 58 miles haha so im cuttin it real close.

Brian doesn't AAA require you to at least be a passenger of the vehicle for them to tow it? you should check that out...

No sir, just have to be there at the pick up site to sign, the car doesnt even have to be in my name, or registered yet as long as the owners there.

Then I can just drive back home, and the tow truck will be there shortly after....


(Previous experience, had my gf's dads car towed to my house for him it was broke down in ohio at hiw work...AND the car was still in his bro's name haha)

Haha I know...id like to (if I start getting any more hours at work) do some kind of (not body) lift, and get some bigger tires on it if I get it....the guys starting to dick around now, he texts me says his internet dont work, but I just now seen he reposted his ad on craigslist and stil hasnt replied to my last email where i made him a couple offers...

He FINALLY replied back, he was out of town, but he didnt wanna trade for anything I had, so he said he just really wants to get rid of it, he knocked it down to 300$

I told him if he still has it after christmas, then ill deff. be picking it up from him haha.

But I gotta save for some presents for my gf, pay my ticket I got the other day, and the usual insurance/gas etc lol
