:roll:Just for ***** and giggles I welded the front spider gears on my X and I am now looking for some manual locking hubs. Found some on ebay for 145 and was wandering if anybody has used this brand and what they think of them? And most importantly, how well will the hold up to a "posi" front end?

Well, in YOUR case, you will want a hub that isn't as solid as your Front Lincoln Locker.

In the front end assembly if something binds, and is going to break, don't you want it to be the EASIEST thing to get to? Lets say you went with the Warn Hubs designed for the Jeep (there are a couple write-ups on how to do it). It is a fairly strong Hub design. You will have difficulty breaking one with a stock Explorer. But once you have an indestructable hub assembly, what you WILL break is an Axle. Where do you want your weakest link? The AXLE, or the Hub? The axle is a PITA to remove/replace. The Hub on the other hand is nothing more than 5 bolts to remove the wheel. If you break a hub on the trail, AND you have a spare, you can be up and running again faster than if you had a flat tire. What is that.....10, 15 min? I'd like to see ANYONE swap an axle in a TTB D35 in less than 30 min.

I would go with the Warn Manuals (I did, actually). They have a Lifetime Warranty. I sent my hubs (w/ Receipt and Returns Authorization) to them on a Monday. And by Friday I had New Hubs back in my hands. I just used my Factory Auto's in the mean time.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Thanks for your input. I forgot to mention a few things. 1, it's nowhere near stock. and 2 I have an "e-clip eliminator" so , yes, I CAN change an axle in less than 30 minutes lol. I was looking into Warn also, but mostly just for the great warranty

do the jeep hubs. will hold up a lot better.

Problem with that theory... the standard hubs are just SSOOOOOOOOOOO much weaker than the axle shaft, it becomes a total PITA to deal with when you break one every 1000 ft on a good trail. With the Jeep hubs you at least stand a chance of getting out of there without depleting your supply of hubs.

Of course with a welded front the bigger issue is going to be your steering (or lack thereof) while in 4wd. I would've gone with a cheap locker like the Aussie or a Lockright up front.

should have got a locker. mile marker sucks. get the jeep hubs since you have the c clip eliminator if u bust a axle it will be easy to replace if you have spare and make sure to keep a hammer flat blade screw driver for all the u joints u might bust :D
