Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2000 limited and the lock codes that are supposed to be taped to the computer module under the dash are missing. Is there any way of reprograming it without the dealerships help?
Also, this is my first AWD vehicle and I am concerened about the (hum) from the front axles on acceleration and highway cruise. Is this normal for AWD's?

This is my first thread.

I recently retired my '92 XLT with 189K on it. Besides the cancer eating away at the entire truck it was mech excelent.

Thanks for any concideration.

Matt.

hum

i have an AWD explorer and i have that same hum you are referring to. as far as the unlock code for the key pad on the side of the driver's door. it should be in the owner's manual. it is a little plastic card that looks like a credit card. and unfortunatley there is no way to re-program the unlock code that is programmed into it fromt he factory. it is a fail safe way of doing things just incase you can't remember your own personal code. i would look in the owner's manual. if that don't work try going to the ford website http://www.fordvehicles.com/owners/ and it will allow you to register the vehicle and they have a toll free hotline that you can call and they might be able to help you would with that code.

Search

Not sure about 2000s, but most owners state that the code is taped to the RAP module hidden in the jack compartment towards the front of the vehicle, not under the dash.

Once you find this master code, you can enter one other code of your choice. Do a search for "reprogramming keypad entry" or similar.

Good luck

the 5 digit code is taped on the computer in the jack storage compartment in the back on left side of the cargo area. its a big and black on a white sticker, you may need a mirror and some lights to try and read it. there is a way to reprogram it though, check your owners manual

I found mine in the back like the other posters said. I found a mirror didn't help much as it was on the label facing out into the cab right behind the panel. I ended up just pulling on the panel until I could squint enough looking kinda sideways to read the number. Just take the jack cover off and look inside towards the front of the truck and you'll see the module. A good hi-powered flashlight is a must for this. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Ray.

Thanks for the replies "I found the code"
