Hello. My plastic mode door lever is broken (it is pretty common from what I've seen). I selected different positions on the control panel for defrost, defrost/floor to see where I can position the broken lever until I fix it, but the actuator arm only went in all the way, and out all the way, with no intermediate positions. How can I test the actuator? There is very, very little resistance on the broken lever, so I figure the actuator will continue to go all in or out if I connect it to the broken lever somehow. Is the actuator supposed to do this? Thanks in advance.

Ford had told me these doors break because the actuator fails.

What I’ve done is peg the door in defrost position during the winter and not during summer. Using a piece of plastic to wedge it.
