Molded Carpet

So when is molded carpet not molded.

For reasons I won't go into, other than we rolled 3 times and flew about 200', after someone hit us. We are buying a second ST since Sept. Anyways, dealer has same copy as the first, go in, drive it, ok no fuss same deal etc. Passenger side carpet has a bubble in it, and it doesn't lay all the way into the left forward corner. Like someone didn't get it laid down properly from factory. So they go ya, that's not right, we'll have it fixed before you leave.

Net net we leave the car there. Talk to service guy today, he says they are going to secure it using special strong adhesive carpet tape? I'm like how does this work, it's a brand new car, either it wasn't put in place correctly or the carpet is defective. He explains it's built on an assembly line and sometimes things don't fit exactly like they should, that this is what ford recommends to fix it.

So I pose the question, when is molded carpet not molded. Compare this carpet to every explorer on your lot. Tell me what the difference is...........

I'd have to see a picture of your carpet to compare.

Here is mine but hard to grasp depth.

I don't have a picture, but essentially in the middle of the foot area you could push down 3-4" the top left corner would push down 1-2" double stick tape to put down the carpet is not acceptable...

Sorry, but I got distracted with your description of the accident. Holy Moly. Hope everyone is OK and glad you’re around to buy another Explorer. For the benefit of us other owners, how would you say the first Explorer did in protecting you and/or your loved ones. Again, glad that all survived.

No experience with your carpet issue but not sure I’d settle for a tape repair. Maybe look for the best substitute model on the lot?
