More Escape/2001 Explorer news

Ran across this article today. Has some interesting info, especially regarding hybrid engines for the Escape in this period of debate about SUV's and their effect on gas prices. Dead Link Removed

From what I know, the redesigned Explorer 4.6 V8 will make 230 hp. No info. on the torque figures though. 230 is still less than it's competitors V6 engines. I just hope that Ford will bump the torque to over 300.

I think the Pathfinder is putting out 240HP with a six. Chevy is putting a pretty powerful I6 in the Blazer. And Ford...is being Ford. Why don't they redesign the Cobra engine and use that?

Ford will be Ford. I'm on my laptop and a cell modem here so I wont take the time to read the link, I'll do that when I get home. More power for the engine really would'nt surprise me though, still time to design it in.
