hi!

i find a information that says explorer 4.0 is produced three diffrent power.

115 kw
121 kw
152 kw and all of them is 4,0 l

is that true?

my explorer is 115kw and i´m thinkin what different are between these more powerfull motors?
how can i ingrease more power to my explorer with litle chance?

maybe throttle body little bigger or what?

rubber doesn´t burn... ;)

drop in a sohc engine ...:-) I don't think those numbers "totally" correlate to a single engine (ie. ohv) I think the last one is a 4.0 sohc option number.
 












With you have a 96, unfortunately your limited. The stock 1996 OHV was only able to produce 160 HP. The V8 Variety was able to produce 210 HP. Trying to swap motors wouldn't work without extensive modification ie: new transmission, new computer, etc. They offered a SOHC variety in 1997 which offered 205 HP but wasn't available for the 1996 model. Swapping the engine can be done but you then have to deal with another computer swap and a transmission swap since in 96 they used a 4R55E and the 97 started using the 5R55E. You can add things like a upgraded MAF sensor, custom tune, etc to increase the power slightly but you won't hit the power band of the SOHC & V8 variety.
