OK. I've got the Edelbrock shocks and fat sway bars. They work great and my X handles better than I ever imagined. Now, the question is. What can I change to make it as comfortable as possible. I'm not concerned with handling any more. I want an X that floats over the roughest roads. Please give suggestions or tell me about your setups.

Float over roads......Hmmmm, you bought the wrong truck if you want it to float over roads. If you want a softer ride, lower your tire PSI. Thats all I can think of. Maybe change your coil springs.

Did you notice any difference in ride quality when you went with the 17" wheels?

Please describre.

Thanks.......

Ride quality of 17's.

Aldive: When I got the larger wheels/lower profile tires, I did feel a difference. It was a bit rougher, but the grip was much higher(probably the wider tires, 275 vs 235 stock). I think it was a worthwhile trade-off.

JoeC5: Yeah, I know it's the wrong vehicle. When I bought it, it fit the task at hand, but times change. I'd love to get a big floaty sedan for the family, but with two large dogs (120 and 65 pounds), that's not quite an option. I plan on getting something bigger, either an Excursion or Yukon XL, but that's s little later on. I just wanted to make the X run a bit smoother for now. I thought about lowering the air pressure, but with the lower profile tires, I don't want to risk banging up the rims.

When you went to the larger wheels, did you notice any drop in gas mileage?

Nope.

No. While the tires are wider, they are almost exactly the same diameter. Plus, while you would expect the wider profile to causemore rolling resistance, the tire tread design is actually more efficient (so I was told by Pirelli), so it really cancels out. My milage hasn't changed.

Get an air suspension. That will help ya float
