Ok I live in Alaska and I do alot of driving through the mountain's. Usually at least once a week. My concern ivolves the transmission. I've noticed while driving through the mountain's I get alot of shifting going on, between 4th and overdrive. Sometimes I turn overdrive off if the shifting gets too annoying. Is it better to just leave overdrive off when I know I'm going into the mountain's? Will this be better for the transmission? I just don't want to have to replace the tranny any time soon cause I really can't afford that right now.

I always turn the O/D off going up hills, then turn it back on going down to pick up some mileage, unless I want engine braking. Anytime it starts hunting, definitely turn it off. Constant shifting creates heat, which will kill a tranny over time.
