Test drove a few mounties, need to replace my 246K 92. I drove one that was certified and then I went to another dealer test drove one with 15K less miles that was not certified. I asked them if it could be certified and they said since the already put it on the lot they can't do it. It doesn't make any sense to me as to why the can't certify it. The salesman said if I was working undercover for ford and asked them to certify it they could get in trouble. Also noticed the non-certified mounty had a rear door that did not line up with the rear fender. The guy did a carfax and it showed no accidents.

Both were V8's, I checked the info center and the one in south jersey said 14.7 MPG and the one in Long Island said 13.1 MPG. How accurate is that gauge and is this variation due to driving style or do some vehicles get better mileage for whatever reason than another identical vehicle .

Mileage differences is probably due to differences in driving styles. And when the computers were reset & how much they were driven since that time...

When I bought my Explorer, it had paperwork in it showing it was certified by Ford. I got pumped since it wasn't advertised as such. Apparently the lot I bought it from was the clearance lot (last chance before the auction) & it had been certified on the lot prior. SO it was nice to know it had been checked all the way out and was OK but in the end I didn't get a certified car...

When i bought my explorer it was on the lot. And i ask for them too certify it and they said no, until i told them i was jus tgoing to buy the other one that was at a nerby dealer.Mine was certified the next day. Good luck!!
