Hello everyone,

Im new here and i thought i would give this forum a try, seems like a very cool and friendly place.

I have a 2006 ford explorer with 60,000 miles on it, everything worked perfect untill about 3 days ago, the alarm started going off for no reason, and the key fob will not turn it off unless i go out and turn the ignition on, the car has its original alarm, I made sure all doors are closed and everything is the way it is suppose to be, so I was wondering if anyone can give me a tip on what could be the issue, also after i turn the ignition on and then turn it off to shut off the alarm, I can lock the car with the fob and everything works fine, just randomly it goes off, now as soon as 10 minutes, so I just keep the car unlocked to avoid it going off.

please help.

Thanks

Just throwing this out there as a free bump. Is this a Ford alarm using a Ford remote or an aftermarket alarm that was dealer or aftermarket installed? Did you get the problem resolved?

2002 Explorer. Fob works fine, car alarm goes off sporadically. Recently very cold weather. Any suggestions? Is there a connection with the cold blast ~-5C.

Hey there. I'm relatively new to this site and forum, too.

I'm having the same issues with my Explorer. It was my mom's, and she drove it quite a bit to work. It has somewhere around 176,000 miles on it. The key fob works fine on it, but the alarm does keep going off. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the age of the wiring. It probably just needs upgraded. The wiring connecting the battery of the car to the alarm could possibly be the source of the issue, sparking it to go off every now and again. At least, I know on mine the wiring is pretty bad. This is what my dad and brothers have told me, but I'm wondering if it could just be the alarm itself.

But there is the case where, if a door is left open for too long, the battery likes to fake its death, and I need a jump every time I clean the car. The sensor for the lights also likes to not read properly. Like, when the doors are all closed and you KNOW they are, it takes about five to six minutes to turn off, which is a pain at night when you're trying to drive home from dinner, or late classes at school like me.

Anyway, I hope this kind of helps. Check the wiring and the battery and the alarm, and see if there's any connection if you haven't done so already. I hope you get the issue resolved!

I am brand new because my 2003 Explorer with 68000 miles just started doing the same thing and the alarm goes off randomly. I have had problems with the door ajar light but have just ignored that. Can't ignore the car alarm in the middle of the night! Looking for help.

This is a pretty old thread Nancy and it did not get a decent response. I would suggest that you talk to a dealer or find an Auto Electric Shop in your area. I have a hunch that your 'door ajar' lite and your alarm going off are related and probably have a reasonable solution.

It´s definitely the door ajar light. It means the truck "thinks" the door is open and that is triggering the alarm. Fix that and you won´t have the alarm going off because of an "open door". It could be the switch or the wiring, check that with a qualified auto electrician.
