Hey all, just thought i'd post my experience with a foobard 5-speed manual. Three weeks ago on my way home from my fiance's I was driving along (58mph) happy as crap...then POP...cruise control went off....no gears except 4th and supposely 5th. So I though WTF! I just had it in the shop to get a new clutch, so I of course think something happened with the clutch. Well I pulled if off the road, walked upto a farm house and the older couple that lived there were nice enough to let me use their phone (living in the dark ages w/o a cell :)) We towed it to a shop, had the tranny dropped, and then I drove the tranny down to a place in Evansville. Took them awhile since they were busy but the finally got to open up the case...the problem was pretty obvious...the first gear coming into the tranny was gone (teeth were MIA) weird problem, NEVER have I heard of this happening, when that gear blew apart it took the one that meshed with it out aswell.....still have no idea how it happened. Well the parts he needed were on back order so we got a rebuilt tranny for $900.00 not too bad, since I'm not a fan of ebay. The new tranny made it's way to the shop to put it in...of course they were really busy too soooooo after three weeks I FINALLY HAVE MY BABY BACK!!! My dad is going to meet my fiance and I half way so I can get my truck. Finally...just thought i'd share, now no one in the chat have to hear me whine anymore haha.

Glad to hear you got truck truck back together! :) glad to see im not the only ones blowing up transmissions. if it makes you feel any better i paid ~750 to have my output shaft replaced, for that amount i could have bought a new trans.

Thanks doug! IF I can get a programming assignment done I think i might have to try it out alittle...theres a nice little trail i've been wanting to try out. I'm supposing a tranny doesn't have a break in period. I'll get hell it i'm sure though from the fiance....she's already said "you just got it fixed now your going to do something that might break it again!!"...

I bought my Navajo last year and I have had the tranny rebuilt 3 times. Once from the dealer I bought it from. Once from the rebuilder screwing up after only 250 miles and it eating itself again. And then 4 months later Firestone decided to race my truck and grind 2nd gear until it granaded. I talked to a transmission rebuilder frined of mine and come to find out the input gears and input shafts that come stock in the mazda tranny are junk. If you get it rebuilt, make sure to ask what gears they are putting in. Make sure they buy them from ford because they have upgraded them.
