Jeff

I have a 95 Exp and the tranny died. Picked up another that was in an accident. Trany worked in the wreck but now doesnt in the good one? Hooked up a hose between the line and the radiator and it does pump fluid(kind of slow takes a few sec. to fill about 5 foot of hose) When installing I put the torque converter on the flywheel 1st and mated the trany to it. Gingerly and did not draw it in with bolts. checked all the electrical connections and changed the shift relay where the linkage hooks in... still nada.. any ideas? could I have hosed the pump putting in TC to flywheel?

Welcome to this forum! The torque converter has to be seated into the bell housing before it gets connected to the flexplate. The cooler lines have to be flushed before a new transmission could be installed or it might clog the valve body on the new transmission.

welcome

Jeff

Do you think I could get lucky enough to undo the TC bolts and seat it then put it back on the flywheel?

95 Explorer trany issues

Unbolted TC and it slid back into trany easily, to no avail. So I would have to guess the pump is shot. It does pump though. How/where can I check the pressure to see if its just not pumping enough? can I do it at the lines going to radiator or it there a place on the trany I need to tie into? I also noted that when I disconnected the wiring harness while it was running I would hear a hissing/vacuum leak coming out of the connector. is that normal?

I've renamed, and moved your thread to the transmission section. There are 2 pressure test ports. The main one is on the driver's side in the rear, and the EPC test port is on the rear passenger's side. You will need a 0-300 PSI test gauge.

I have pressure.. seems high compared to Glaciers post. 115 P& N , 140 R , 120 D , 135 2 , 125 1. a couple times when going into R it jumped to 160 for a second. All reading dropped around 5lbs after it ran a while. Needle was fluttering most of the time and R off idle would after a sec jump over 200 viscously. (gauge only went to 200)

Still no trany output.

How can a trany have fluid, good pressures(actually high), and still no go? Need help before I scrap them... :(
