my check engine light flashes off and on and my truck wont accelerate when it is on

ay everybody im new to the ford explorer family i have a question and hopefully some one can help. i just recently purchased a 2003ford explorer eddie bauer edition. Before i purchased it it only had one owner. okay to my my problem okay at first my check engine would flash off and on and it wouldnt accelerate especially when i was going up an incline or once i would reach 60 mph and let it cruise it would run rough and shake alil like it was gong to cut off.so the first thing i did was change my spark plugs spark plug wires and the ignition coil pack. i also took it to the dealership and they said it was a vacum hose but after they replaced the hose and the next day the same thing happen. so im still left with this problem i turned my over drive off and it ran alil better as far as the acceleration but i still feel the shaking alil and when im at a stop position i feel it shake alil any suggestions

Welcome to the forum sorry your new truck is having problems.

Do you know what the code was? Without that it is hard to tell by just what you are saying really it could be a dirty air-filter (it would need to be very dirty) to a clogged cat (a good possibility).

You did what I would with the truck as far as changing the plug and wires, how did the plugs look? That can tell you a lot. Did you clean the MAF and the TB? If not I would do that now it may not be the problem but it should be done and it may help. How many miles? Has the fuel filter ever been changed? It's a PITA but that should be done and again may help.

Basically assume no maintenance has been done and do it, may not fix your problem but will help to prevent new ones and you might luck out.

If I had to make a wild a#$ guess I would have the cats checked

Flashing Check engine light means it's misfiring happen to mine few years ago I changed my spark plugs one had a crack which at the time i didnt see it and i got the flashing CEL light.

Thanks for the replies I got in assistanting me with my pliroblem.I read my check engine diagnosis and it read bank2 system lean and catalic converter faliure. And my check engine light is still flashing which one would be the best part to change First

If it is flashing you have a miss. That can be caused by Fuel or spark (doubt air, but its possible).

Since your getting a lean code too I'm leaing towards fuel issues. I'd check and/or change the fuel filter first. If your starving for fuel it can miss. And if your starving for you can get a CEL for lean burn.

A Vacuum leak could also make it run really lean which could also make it miss and give you the flashing CEL. Listen for any vacuum leaks and you can also try spraying carb cleaner around the engine. If the RPMs change when you do that you have a vacuum leak.
