I just bought a 99 explorer for 450 from one of my friends it has 180000 miles had trans rebuilt a year ago and new upper control arms and ball joints and steering rack body in great condition now to the bad has timing cain rattle

Welcome to the Forum, lots of great info here. Do a search for timing chain noise.
Is your vehicle the 4.0 sohc or ohv or the 5.o?
I have the sohc and have the dreaded rear timing chain noise. Looks like I will have to pull the engine to fix the issue. Waiting till after tax time.

$450 got yours was a great deal, even if you put 2k into it you are still doing good.
A few years ago my son and I bought a 94 for parts for his X, We later fixed it and sold it for a nice profit. Which also helped him buy the one he has now.
Of course now I have the Explorer bug and bought one for me.

Its 4.0 sohc im gonna pull the motor and rebuild it so ill have around 1500 in it

I'll have to tackle mine someday, nut not looking forward to it.
