I've asked this question in the past but I'll do it again in hope someone can tell me how to fix this damn problem!!!

Alrighty then here we go.

I have a brand new blend door and can get hot/cold air no problem. However shortly after having the blend door installed something must of shorted and with the digital control or something else went wrong but I can only have air thats full hot or full cold. The "happy medium" dosn't exsist.

Example:

90 degree is superheated melting stuff hot air.
85 and lower cold air.
60 A/C Ice cold AC no prob.

This is setting it at either manual or auto. Auto dosn't really work.

Am I doomed with having a wife next to me *****ing its either too hot or too cold? HELP!!!

Blower moter resistor would be my sugestion.

EDIT: I take that back I read your question without getting it.

I would take the blend door adjuster motor off and adjust the heat and see if the motor turns as it should.

Is that hard to do?

I gota get this fixed. Its spawned so many arguments I'm surprised I'm still married

Its located in behind the glovebox. The bolt in the back is a ***** to get, but its possible.

This is the motor and the part you want to see rotate. It should rotate slowly as you adjust the temp. (Make sure you have it plugged in) you already knew that though.

Also a good dental mirror or similar is good to have.

crap thoes pics didn't come out. could you post their URL?

Motor is moving but only when its set on what I posted earlier. But it only moves from one side to another and not in the middle.

This is just a guess but possibly this is at fault.

You can pick these up fairly cheap on ebay.

While pressing and holding the off and floor buttons, press and release the automatic button. This will self test the control head and climate control actuators and inputs. If there is a fault, it will give out a code, if there is no fault, it will just prove out all the bulbs. When finished press the blue (cool) button to exit the test.

There are some vacume hoses that control temp. Listen for a sucking noise. If you hear one a hose is loose and needs to be reconnected. The hvac controler could be bad. Dont try to get the little motor off. Just place your hand on it to confirm its working. If you are getting heat & cold its probably working and just isnt getting the correct info from the controler to adjust the heat.

Ok thanks for more tips I'll be trying them tonight.

HAH I couldn't wait and printed up that little diagnostic thing.

When I hit floor and off it makes all these clicking sounds and hissing sounds. Well after I did this nothing really happened on the display. I started screwing around with the temps and it WORKS NOW!!!! Did the dealership just forget to reset it or something when the blend door was changed?

Well I'm gona play with it more on the way home from the office just to make sure its fixed. OMG if this fixes it I'll be so damn happy. No more damn arguments!!!!

Alright that fix worked for about 5 minutes. What else can I try? I can't stand this....

I think if you gave the stang to me your heater would work again.

I'm wondering at this point if I can put a knob system in vs the electric. Maybe thats the problem?

It could be an issue with the temp sensor behind the little vent in the center of the dash.

That sounds like something cheap and easy to try! Any idea for part number and/or price?

I bought it for $25.97 at rock auto (motorcraft # yh-1454) had it for 2yrs never installed. The problem I have is that ia that the temperture stay good a first then gets suddenly hot and I have to blow into the sensor to get it to cool again.

Sweet. Thanks. Where exactly is the sensor? left side or right side of the center vent? Also whats the best way to do the R&R on it.
