My Explorer has, over the last three weekday mornings (Thurs., Fri. and Mon.... it apparently doesn't give a hoot on the weekends), randomly flashed various "idiot" lights and blanked/beeped the computer. No loss of power. All gauges are fine. No flux on battery gauge or RPMs.

I've had this happen once before, but it was a total system reboot, and it ended up being a bad battery. I replaced the battery in January, and plan on going back to where I bought it to have it checked this evening.

IF it is NOT the battery, or alternator, any suggestions? Computer reset i.e. negative cable, etc.?

Has anyone else had this problem?

TIA!

Does this happen only in the morning? Do you park outside or in a garage?

Only first thing in the morning. Only on first crank. It hasn't done it after I've stopped and recranked or after sitting all day at work. I park in a covered but open carport on a slab.

You may have a loose or corroded connector or a bare wire somewhere that shorts or grounds due to dew forming overnight. Once the engine or the air temperature warms up it evaporates and with it goes your problem.

Intermittent electrical problems are notoriously difficult to troubleshoot. I'd start with checking for a loose connector on all the control harnesses, and with a simple, gentle shaking of the harness(s), and then see if the problem is still present.
