Hello to all I hope some one can answer my question. I love my truck it's a 92 explorer xlt but lately it's been runnin' real bad. I just put a new water pump on it and now it is idling really fast. In park 2000 rpms in drive around 1100 to 1500 it fluxuates. However when I firest start it it revs up high drops down to where it feels like it is going to stall and then revs back up again. What the heck did they do to my truck

Check for bad/broken/missing vacuum lines on the main vacuum tree, you may want to check/clean your IAC valve since that controls idle air on a FI engine

welcome

hmmm, sounds like a dpfe problem to me .......

my fun with it ,http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234040

mine would shoot up in rpms then back down to almost stalling the motor out .power would be off and on while driveing .cold starts would goto @ 400 rpms then shoot up to 1500 to 2000 then back down the other second .

even tho a cel has not been thrown to let you know the dpfe is bad ...i would call these the first symptoms.tho cleaning the iac would be the first and easiest thing to do first .
