My truck's not pulling correctly when I drive in overflow tank keeps blowing off

I was driving my 2006 Ford explorer the other day all day truck's driving fine than I made a stop sat for a minute with the engine running than when I took off got a little ways up the street it's like my car stop pulling correctly I made it be to the house the next day I drive it arround the corner two blocks over to a shop and after I get out and start walking toward the building I hear a pop when I come back out to my truck I see antifreeze everywhere I lift the hood and see the cap blew off my overflow tank and my temp gauge stay on normal but its oviously over heating
what can that be

Thermostat stuck closed. Happened to me a couple years back.
