I believe electric fans draw something like 25 AMPS. Yours are probably smaller, as you have two, and may draw less AMPS, so the 40 AMP fuse is probably okay. I don't know that I'd run both fans off one relay though. Also unless you control the fans with some sort of thermostatic switch, running them all them time will shorten their life span. Hayden sells a switch that mounts on/through (not in) the radiator. You should be able to pick one up at most auto parts stores. Personally, I'd dump the electric fans and go back to an engine driven clutch fan. At 15 MPG (which is pretty much normal) the electric fans aren't saving you much if anything. Just something else to go wrong.

Same exact advise my mechanic bud gave me. It's about $50 for a new fan off ebay. I'll go ahead and get one as a spare however I'd like to see how well the elec fans holds up in the summer time. I gunned it pretty heavily this morning on a 20 mile trip, opened the hood, the relay and wiring were as warm as are during an idle warm up. However I'll probably need to change it anyways. Nothing like a fire hazard that would prevent my insurance from paying out! : ) Thanks for the help Koda

If you run across an older-style metal fan on eBay (rather than the ones with the white plastic fan blades) I'd consider that. Eventually the white plastic ones tend to develop cracks in between the blades. Then again, how many more years/miles do you plan on keeping this vehicle? The plastic ones go 200K or more.

After spending all this time working on it, I'll keep it as a spare in case me or the wifes car ends up in the shop. Plastic fan is on order. The explorer is in my garage... the engine oil pan gasket change is an 8 hour job. Exhaust manifold had to get unbolted, motor needs to be jacked up. About 3 hours in. It was either that or pay about $900 for a shop to do it which is about half of what I paid for the car. Hoping its that and not the rear main seal. Otherwise, I'll be living with the leak
