Name that part?

I have a part under my hood that leaks coolant. It's where 2 heater hoses come together, and one hose leaves this device and disappears into the firewall. It has some moving parts -- a small crooked handle sticks out of it, and a wire is attached to it. It looks like maybe it shuts off the flow of water to the heater until the temperature is right. My parts man couldn't find it in his books. Does anybody know the name of it?

Ya, it's the heater control valve. I'd replace it if it leaks.

Yeah, heater control valve. I've replaced one on virtually every vehicle I've ever owned.

If it's leaks replace it. Not only will it leak coolant out, but as the system cools could pull air in, possibly causing airlocks and overheating in extreme cases.
