Deployed to Iraq
Year, Model & Trim Level
05 Limited
Hello. I am currently deployed to Iraq, but when I get back I would like to put a navigation system and/or a back up sensor system in my wife's '05 Limited. Currently it is stock, but being the Limited model, it's loaded. The Ford dealership won't help me out at all because they say that they don't have a part # for a nav system for an Explorer. Well no crap. I've never seen a nav system as even an option on an Explorer. The Expeditions, however, do have them. My question is: Will the Expedition OEM navigation system and/ or back up system fit into my Explorer with no modifications? I would really like to hear from someone experienced in this area if at all possible. An 'It might be possible' answer doesn't justify the cost of a new OEM unit and I'm not going to go cutting up an Explorer that's still under warranty. And if it can be done (as I suspect it can), what all parts do I have to aquire, and will I have to splice my factory harness or are there plugs just dangling back there somewhere (just hoping Ford went cheap and used the same harness as in the expedition). Internet time is few and far between so if anyone has solid evidence or knowledge that this can be done please email me at dejjen@yahoo.com. I'll check it when/ if I can. Thanks! :salute:

Im with you on wanting a factory nav setup in my 04, and was wondering if one from the 06+ years could fit with a little modification to the dash bezel. However im not so sure its as simple as just the head unit its it? Are there other sensors involved? The new JVC nav/DVD player would be nice too.

As for back up sensors, There are after market kits for this that look as good as factory. Check them out on ebay. Again I dont think this will be as simple as adding the sensors on the bumper and switch up front. Much more wiring me thinks :salute:
